Received a very cool pottery money box today as a birthday gift from my mum; she always manages to find the perfect present and this one is no exception!
The hand painted Cymru Camper is about 9″ long, 4.5″ wide and 5″ tall and comes complete with a sweet red and green surfboard on the roof which just happens to be where the slot is located to pop in all the coins for my Bus Fund!
I think the Bus originated from the excellent “Shop In The Clouds” web site which sells all kinds of cool clothing, gifts and jewellery; all with a Welsh theme of course!

Found this cool VW Bus Sidecar whilst browsing through images on Google the other day.
I couldn’t find much other information, but it looks like the scooter/sidecar combo was featured at VolksWorld 2007.

If anyone has any more info on the unique Splittie sidecar, feel free to add a comment below….

Sun Star Models Development have recently launched a new model in their 1:12 scale collection and it’s probably the most amazing replica of a 1960’s Volkswagen Samba you’ll ever find.

Comprising over 600 separate parts, the Limited Edition VW Kombi features the following:
• Opening fabric roof.
• Functioning door handles on front and side doors.
• Extending radio aerial.
• All four wheels can be changed by unscrewing the 5 nuts.
• Front seat back folds up for access to removable spare wheel.
• Fully positionable external mirrors and supports.
• Removable hub caps.
• Removable fuel cap.
• Posable windscreen wipers which also hinge outwards.
• Movable gear lever.
• Sun visors fold down and swivel.
• Front seat back folds up for access to removable spare wheel.
• Bench seat folds up for access to tool kit.
• Fully functional steering.
• Front side windows slide to open.
• Front quarter-lights open.
• Working front and rear suspension.
• Soft leather-effect seats.
• Detailed engine with separate HT leads fan belt, alternator, starter motor etc.
You’d better hurry if you want to get your hands on one though; only 5000 have been produced and word is they’re selling very fast!
For a fantastically in depth look at this amazing model, check out the eight and a half minute long video review over at The Car Room - it was enough for me to hunt around online to find the best deal. The 1:12 scale model really is a must-have for any VW Bus enthusiast.
OldBug.com also have a great review with nice commentary and associated images of the model. At the time of writing this post OldBug.com still have a limited quantity of models for sale for $200 plus shipping and handling. Check their review for more details.
Also, good old Amazon.com are selling the 1962 Volkswagen Samba, but you’d better hurry, there are only 5 left!
If you’re still in two minds whether to purchase one or not, check out the removable tiny lug nuts and wrench to see how much detail has been included. Very, very impressive don’t you think?

I’m sure this is old news to all the die-hard VW Bus fans out there, but I thought the Volkswagen Bus was so cool it deserves another mention.
Sculptor Lars-Erik Fisk created the VW Bus Ball a couple of years ago, which earned him a $20,000 prize from a local art museum. Apparently Lars has also created a UPS truck ball and a John Deere Tractor ball, but the article I could find featured a small image of the UPS ball.
Check out this excellent blog post for more information about Lars and his custom work.
For the record, the VW Bus Ball photograph is Creative Commons licensed.

Found a great web site recently called Calamity Creations that sell original art, prints on paper and canvas, calendars and greeting cards featuring Volkswagen Splittie and Bay Window Buses.
Pictured above is one of my favorites “Desert Island Bus” which is a digital print on textured watercolor paper available in 4 sizes. The selection of products is fantastic with the Split Screen and Bay Campervan images being the most successful part of the Calamity Creations art range.
Calamity Creations will be at VANFEST at the Three Counties Show Ground in Malvern from the 12th to the 14th September 2008 if you’d like to check them out. Meanwhile, why not pay a visit to their great web site where you can view the gallery of available products.

Definitely the most unique pool table I’ve seen in a long time! According to the article at NextAutos, the bus was snapped up from its previous owner for around $8000; not a bad deal at all. Love how the felt is almost a perfect match to the body color….
