This wonderful wooden Volkswagen Bus was created by master sculpture Lee Stoetzel who is:
very interested in the far-reaching power of nature.
The VW Bus is a one-to-one scaled 75″ x 165″ x 67 1/2″, and is crafted from pecky cypress wood and steel.
Stoetzel has a unique view of the environment and states:
We build houses and think that we have controlled space, yet nature winds its way into those materials. The sculptures I have built light up to emphasize the power of natural form.
Fancy owning the wooden bus? No problem….if you have $65,000 you can part with….
Question: What could possibly be monumental enough to draw 71,000 Volkswagen enthusiasts from 28 countries?
Answer: One huge party celebrating a Volkswagen icon - the unforgettable Volkswagen Bus!
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles hosted the 60 years of the VW Bus celebration in Hannover, Germany in the fall of 2007.
Judging by the following video, one thing is certainly evident; the Volkswagen Bus continues to live in the hearts of Volkswagen enthusiasts worldwide.
SoundWagon is the world’s smallest portable record player. The neat thing is the stylus on wheels is actually a model Volkswagen Bus!
Simply set down the SoundWagon on a vinyl record, switch it on and it will drive around the record and play the music through the speaker built into the van’s roof.
Technical Specifications:
# Drives along vinyl grooves and plays records
# In-built speaker in the vans roof
# Ideal for when buying second hand records
# A highly collectible item
# Replaceable stylus
# Requires 9v battery (not included)
# Plays 33 rpm records only
# Available in green, blue, yellow & pink
Which color will you buy?
Take a look at the SoundWagon in action thanks to the following YouTube video:
How much does it cost? Currently £79.00 from www.htfr.com….
Disclaimer: several online reviews have noted the VW Bus record player can and will scratch vinyl records. Please don’t use it to play your prized collection of classic vinyl!

For a fantastically in depth look at this amazing model, check out the eight and a half minute long video review over at The Car Room - it was enough for me to hunt around online to find the best deal. The 1:12 scale model really is a must-have for any VW Bus enthusiast.
OldBug.com also have a great review with nice commentary and associated images of the model. At the time of writing this post OldBug.com still have a limited quantity of models for sale for $200 plus shipping and handling. Check their review for more details.
Also, good old Amazon.com are selling the 1962 Volkswagen Samba, but you’d better hurry, there are only 5 left!

Talk about great service! I only ordered the Welsh Dragon Volkswagen Bus Wall Clock on Monday afternoon; the mail man just arrived (Friday afternoon) and guess what he delivered all the way from the UK? The Welsh Dragon VW Bus Clock….
I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. The clock was very well packaged and looks just as good in person as it does online and at £8.50 (approx. $17.00) exclusive of VAT outside the EU it’s a bargain!
If this were an eBay sale I’d be heading over to their site to leave positive feedback for the product and the service received. Unfortunately I can’t do that so hopefully this blog post will help spread the word about Signs-Unique and their great range of products.
The lucky winner of the The Who’s Magic Bus was announced on the Teenage Cancer Trust web site yesterday as Anthony Jones. Congratulations Anthony!
The iconic VW Bus, provided by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, was specially designed by The Who’s art director Richard Evans, and branded with iconic images of the band and their famous target logo
Almost 9,000 tickets were sold for the Magic Bus competition, launched in April by Roger Daltrey, with over £28,000 being raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity. Excellent news!
I’m sure this is old news to all the die-hard VW Bus fans out there, but I thought the Volkswagen Bus was so cool it deserves another mention.
Sculptor Lars-Erik Fisk created the VW Bus Ball a couple of years ago, which earned him a $20,000 prize from a local art museum. Apparently Lars has also created a UPS truck ball and a John Deere Tractor ball, but the article I could find featured a small image of the UPS ball.
Check out this excellent blog post for more information about Lars and his custom work.
